History

Lochview Cattery was opened in June 2000 by Fiona and Robert Martin.

Fiona has lived with cats all her life and it has been a long life passion to open a Boarding Cattery.  Her dream was fulfilled in June 1997, when the property came on the market.  The Cattery was built from scratch to Feline Advisory Bureau standards and has been inspected by FAB and is now a listed Boarding Cattery.

Fiona worked in the Electronics industry for over 17 years, so running a cattery is a drastic change from an indoor job to a constant outdoor job.

Fiona has gained a Management Certificate from FAB on running a boarding cattery and has spent 6 days with Elizabeth & Heinz Hahn at Knunston Boarding Cattery in Wellinborough.

Fiona also attends courses run by the  Feline Advisory Bureau at the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh on an annual basis and often attends smaller local courses run by local vets.

Fiona and Robert have two girls, Chelsie (aged 10) and Jodi (aged 6).  They have two dogs, four cats and one rabbit and 16 ducks!  The dogs are Sheba (aged 13) and Zoltan (aged 5).  The  cats are Shadow (aged 15), Suki (aged 12), Snowball (aged 9), Becky (aged 8).  The rabbit is called Hamish.

Working for Fiona is Heather Robb, Cattery Manager, an invaluable staff member who, along with Fiona, maintains a very high standard in the Cattery complex.

Events

Annually, Lochview Cattery runs an information night on a variety of different subjects.  Last year there was a small seminar on the ins and outs of Cat Flu, which was supported by Virbac.  The talk was carried out by Ian Patterson of St.Clair Veterinary Surgery, Kirkcaldy.
